IBEW 435 Members at Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries,
Current Casino Gaming Technicians at MBLL should have received a communication yesterday (January 29, 2026).
As you are aware, a review of Casino Gaming Technicians has been ongoing for quite some time now. An internal Job Evaluation Committee, including Gaming Technicians and your Union reperesentatives ultimately could not reach a consensus, so an external third party was engaged to complete an independent evaluation.
Process:
- The vendor received the same position description and job evaluation tool that was used by the internal job evaluation committee.
- To maintain objectivity, the vendor was not informed that the position was recently evaluated internally and they did not receive any information regarding the reason for their involvement.
- The vendor conducted separate meetings with the employees and their union representative, as well with management, to gather information about the role.
- Following these discussions, the vendor independently completed the job evaluation, including the scoring of all the compensable factors.
- Results and rationale have been communicated to the Manager, Total Rewards and the Director, HR Systems and Total Rewards.
Based on the external job evaluation, the Gaming Technicians Casinos of Winnipeg, will move from Pay Level 4 to Pay Level 5.
Retroactive Pay:
- Total Rewards will use a retroactive date of April 27, 2023.
- Wage rate changes will be processed by January 31, 2026.
- Retroactive payments will be paid by February 14, 2026.
If you have any questions, please contact your representatives or our office.
In Solidarity,
