Message on Pay Equity at Bell

Dear Employees of Bell Canada,

It has come to our attention that Bell Canada has proceeded with the publication of a draft pay equity plan without the authorization or agreement of the pay equity employee representatives. This action is not aligned with the collaborative requirements outlined in the pay equity legislation, which requires joint participation in the development and approval of such plans. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to have done so given that the committee had reached an impasse on the calculation method.

An extension was agreed to by the employee representatives on the Pay Equity Committee at Bell Canada in September 2024. For further clarity, this plan brings together three Unions and nine employee representatives who are speaking on behalf of more than 11,000 employees working at Bell West, Bell MTS, Bell in Quebec, Ontario, and Atlantic Canada.

We are currently reviewing the implications of this action and have escalated the matter to our respective National Unions and legal counsel to explore the next appropriate steps.

Please rest assured that we are committed to upholding your rights throughout this process and will continue to advocate for meaningful employee representation.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out.

Nathalie Lapointe

Co-Chair Equity Committee for the Employee Representation.
